Strasserhof Kerner
Strasserhof Kerner — juicy peach and Alpine freshness
Above Neustift Abbey, in one of Italy’s northernmost wine-growing areas, Strasserhof’s vines grow at 680 to 750 metres. Sunny south-west-facing slopes and light, sandy gravel soils give Kerner favourable conditions for full aromatic ripeness, while the cool Valle Isarco climate preserves its lively freshness. The result is an Alto Adige Valle Isarco DOC that is fragrant and expressive, yet always clear and agile.
Stainless-steel ageing for fruit and clarity
The Kerner matures entirely in stainless steel. This restrained approach lets its aromatic side show clearly and retains the wine’s fresh line. Ripe peach and pineapple appear on the nose, accompanied by fine elderflower. The fruit is juicy and inviting without becoming opulent.
Aromatic, full-bodied and mineral
On the palate, the Kerner has perceptible depth and a pleasantly firm structure. Its lively acidity supports the ripe fruit and gives the wine tension, while a mineral note adds further definition. The long finish remains fresh, juicy and finely spiced. Strasserhof’s Kerner combines the grape’s fragrant character with the cool precision of its high Valle Isarco origin.
A good match for aromatic, gently spiced cooking
Its fruit and freshness are especially good with herb-fried trout or a creamy risotto with spring vegetables. It also suits ginger prawns, mildly spiced poultry or a coconut-milk curry. As an aperitif it is open and lively; at the table, it has the substance for a longer meal.
